i like toys myself, i dont leave home without my digital camera and a bunch of other things.. i do like the kitchen knife idea i have one in my draw i use all the time but never out of the house maybe i will take it next time...

Being a newbie here, ive been reading a lot of the posts and what strikes me is how incredibly expensive all the favourite toys are, Knives at over £100 torches for more than £70 and countless other bits of kit.
I guess I'm just surprised a primitive lifestyle site has such a consumerist base...

im not sure what method of friction i will try.. i will need to read up on it i think.. and probably sharpen my knife as fether sticks were almost impossible.
while i was at rockes east woods (near bath) this weekend i made fire using a steel and birch bark, and some down from thistles(boy does it burn quick) as well as asorted bits of stuff i found in the woods. im so pleased with myself i have a pic of my fire :)...
im over in weston-super-mare... i was clearly bad as a child..
no i wasnt westons a great place for a bank holliday day out bring the kids and see the town!

450 g elderberries
1.2 litres boiling water
450 g caster sugar
Crush elderberries and pour over the boiling water. Stir well
and leave to stand for 24 hours, then strain through a fine sieve
or cloth into a saucepan. Stir in the sugar and boil until...

i saw a hat clip in a well known ski shop, for £9.99 and thought about buying it but not at such a silly price.
i wanted it to attach my hat to my backpack when im not using it.
so when i went home i took out the ironing board and used one of the braces
and converted it into a home...
