you can certainly make a knife with materials that would cost a lot less that £25 (My first had less than £10 in it ) but may have to spend more and have spare left over

problem is the shape they are that shape to fit in a rectangular Pouch on the webbing belt, not to be easy to clean (especially burnt on Aluminium ) or Heat evenly from a small central Heat source.

most knives need a bit of spine squaring to get a ferro to strike as sharp edges are usually removed for most use (bar the important one )
no a 22deg scandi is fine on O1............... IF you get the HT right if you get it wrong then nope (Correct HT dosnt just give a Rc hardness of 58 etc)

yes but you need to pack the edges with lots of Damp clay right up to teh Eye and large mass to keep cool and wck the heat as it moves thro the metal
