I went on a walk in South Wiltshire; just outside of Downton



this is the Wiltshire/Hampshire border...not remote but very quiet; I didnt see another living soul all trip



The hedgerows were loaded. RED



BLUE



A Trig point. Something to do with the Druids.



Looking North. The grass is getting green again, finally



Being wiltshire there were a lot of Antiquities. This is Grims Ditch



But we are close to the New Forest so there are pine trees; Marking the drove road?



And more fruit. I dont know what these are.



But spindle is readily recognisable.



The bridleways are not so much wooded as often well hedged; there are lots of different plants



i am heading to the Yew woods



A sign of civilisation.

Ill leave you with some crab apples; they look like domestic apples; actualy they are quite small

They do mostly gin and some other things; mostly from bottanicals grown in the garden





They are supporters of the Great Bustard group. The Great Bustard gin is flavoured with herbs the birds like to eat.



I didnt see one! Nor the ravens! (But I heard them croaking)



Next year, thanks to my efforts, there will be Damson gin.

But they do all sorts of things; all with a local flavour. They connect the sprits to the landscape. So do have a look; I know some of you like Spirits

It's a superb fruiting year here too. I'm glad further south finally got rain though; that was sore to see this Summer.

It was and all. Trees have died. But most are OK though.

Yes, they’re incredibly beautiful trees to look at, I love seeing them on the Downs with their silver leaves. Native to the UK.

I wouldn’t call the fruit edible in the same way I wouldn’t with Rowan, but ’edulis’ means edible.

Yew tree berries are lovely. The taste of Autumn. Don’t eat the seeds.
