The walk home from "town"

Spring is a wonderful time to walk into my tiny town for my daily needs.
Leaving the bustle and cars behind here are a few photos of the things I pass by most days.I just cannot imagine living in a town now. Im so lucky.

exmoor, zummerzet zide, tho debon is within hobblin' distance, only two miles away.

I couldn't imagine living in a town either! That looks very similar to my daily walk to work, though I see more cows than bees

I live in Debm, in the Dartmoor NP man and boy, but I love Exmoor, it is a lot quieter than Dartmoor, although if you know where, you can always get away and not see another human being.

I would hate to live in a town as well! In fact…….I can’t stand them!

Nearest town for me is 35km away, nearest village 13km.

Why, oh why??
This week the path ambiance is being destroyed.
After the first photo of the path, round a bend is the local school., just before the path ends, and goes into housing.
This is what it was like last week.
Then we see the gradual destruction, as they put up prison fencing.

School security. Safeguarding is very important and that fence doesn’t look like it would stop many people getting in or out. I’m sure you’re aware of the many deaths there have been over the years in schools. No one wants that. Yes, the destruction of society by needing to have it but it’s the reality. Would you rather intruders could just get into a school easily?

Hmm... is it put up to keep people out? Or keep people in?
Is it a measure as a respons to unsafe society? Or has an unsafe society been created in order to validate these measures?

Yes, very good Ron. It’ll be for both stopping people getting in and pupils getting out.

Of course an unsafe society has been created just so those in power can feel happy about building fences.

An appeal to how the world used to be is probably a logical fallacy but I can recall the times when to get from A to B I would regularly walk in the evening across two school grounds separated by a railway I also should not have been crossing, nobody died from doing that, or at least I didn't. My old school was blessed by a lake with a bridge across it. When they rebuilt the school, the lake was fenced off and the public can't access it either. I wouldn't want to swap their "secure" world for mine.

Yep. (Some of) the past is great.

My old secondary school I used to make use of the fields during the holidays with my siblings for football, kite flying boomerangs, riding our bikes, whatever.

Other kids used it for driving junky motorbikes and smashing the windows.

It was a shame (for me) when it was all fenced but I could see the reason.
