    My New Necker

Takes something "extra"to capture my attention when it comes to blades, but that little beauty surely does so!!! Sweet!

    A good wide-brimmed hat?

I have worn a Filson Bush hat for years, tough beyond description, and much better protection than their popular Packer hat. Not much for leather, personally. Leather seems to posess the unique quality of being extra hot in the heat, extra cold in the cold. Make mine canvas, plzzz......

    Custom makers

Good question. Personally, I think a low end figure on a custom blade would be about $100 dollars U.S. If I, personally, was looking to buy a custom blade, I'd budget about $250. Most I ever parted with for a blade was $350.......

    Custom makers

I'm curious, in a general sort of way, about the number of custom knifemakers in the UK? Here in the US, they are pretty common, although it's a bit of a chore to become well known. Kinda like musicians, talent is not enopugh, perhaps, it requires some degree of luck to get a following. In a...

    Single campfire cooking pan

If you had to use one piece of cooking gear for preparing meals, of whatever kind, for just yourself, over a campfire, what sort of pot/pan/groddle or whatever would you choose?

What bushcrafty things are you up to this wkd?

I will be going out deer hunting today, then tomorrow I will just do some scouting(no Sunday hunting here) and cook some teriaki(sp) shrimp on a skewer over a little fire somewhere in the woods. Beautiful time to be out and about, cool/cold, and, best of all, NO TICKS!

    hermits?

People alone in the Alaskan bush have been known to "go bushy" for prolonged lack of contact with others, usually over a winter. There have been recorded incidents of such folks, upon being visited after such a period of time, actually fleeing and hiding from the unexpected visitors!

    Stone and flint?

A couple days ago I was watching an episode of Bear Grylls(sp?) where he was out flopping around the Sierra Mountains of California. At the point in the show where he exited a river, and needed to dry himself and his clothing, he started a fire by useing, as he put it by striking a piece of...

    Double bit hand axe

I'm surprized that the double bit hand axe, ala Nessmuk style does not enjoy more popularity. Marbles offers one, but I don't believe it's particulary well regarded. Reeves Forge makes a couple versions, but I know little about them beyond that...

Bernie Garland Nessmuk for sale on ebay

Very nice, JoJo!! I like the little knife in the lower pic, in particular. While I have never used a Nessmuck patter, looks can be decieving. Consider the "Canadian" belt knife patter. Looks kind of odd to me, but anyone I know who actually owns one seems to love it.

    Trapping crawfish

I've seen a few references on here about crawfish and how to trap them. Pretty much everything one might need to know about the subject, and then some, can be found here. http://www.terrybullard.com/ Hopefully, some might find the info usefull!

There is actually a full slate of "named" moons, for want of a better term. http://www.farmersalmanac.com/full-moon-names

    hunters moon

Lots of deer hunters follow the moon phases closely to plan a hunt. Personally, I hunt weather fronts and usually don't pay any attention to the moon. I always heard that the term Hunters Moon just sort of casually referred to the full moon of October because, traditionally, it's the month...

Where do I find Woolrich lumberjack shirts in uk

Filson has gone downhill to some degree, even producing some products "out-of-house". Shop carefully, some of their stuff is still top shelf, some is less so.....
