    large knife design?

You might want to consider Fallknivens A2 design as a starting point. Exceptional utility in a bowie shaped long knife. The other choice might be to look at the shape of the Bark River Camp Knife shape. A little heavier but very useful as well.

    Rat knives

For that kind of use you're looking for something like this http://www.heinnie.com/cfditl186066/Knives/BK&T/Becker-Companion/p-92-537-3674/ or this: http://www.heinnie.com/cfditl186066/Knives/BK&T/Becker-Necker/p-92-537-3672/ They're inexpensive, bomb proof, can hold an edge, easily...

    Fallkniven D4 sharpener

If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative, look at the DMT Diafolds, especially the xf/ceramic (1200/2200 grit), or the xf/xxf (1200/8000 grit). Larger than the DC3, don't come apart, very lightweight and portable, much easier to use in the hand with it's own handle.

    Modded CS Tomahawk

In the event you need to remove that paint or epoxy coat on a similar implement, there is a product called Jasco Paint and Epoxy remover that is a gel that works very, very fast. Just apply a thick coat to the surface on both sides and let it sit for five minutes (literally!!!). Come back with...

    Arkansas Stones?

Those are most likely the Black Surgical Arkansas stones that typically fall in the 2000-4000 grit if they are of fine quality or 1500-2000 grit if they are typical quality. Either should give you a very nice finished edge. In my experience, the Norton Translucent and Black Arkansas, White...

    Arkansas Stones?

Arkansas stones are my favorite stone and use them frequently because they are not an aggressive stone. They are mostly a finishing stone in that they polish as they sharpen. I keep an 4" x 1" Arkansas stone with me at all times, one that I sandwiched with a translucent and a soft arkansas and...

    Fallkniven H1 3G

The H1 is basically a hunting knife first a bushcraft knife second. The F1 is a far, far better bushcraft knife than the H1. As for the 3G steel, it's really, really good steel. Some think it's a more difficult steel to sharpen, I don't. With the convex edges they put on the blades, it takes...

    Portuguese forum knife project

Beautiful knife. Looks like terrific craftsmanship went into making it. I really like the motif on the blade, really sets it a part! Please show us when you've finished putting the handle on and building the sheath for it!!!

    Aldi Ceramic knives

They are not difficult to sharpen with a fine grade diamond stone (1200 grit). They take a new edge very readily,

    Lock Knife

This is also a great deal in a knife with N690 steel. Quality well beyond its price. http://www.heinnie.com/product.asp?s=37zugx114503&strParents=&CAT_ID=0&P_ID=600&strPageHistory=search&numSearchStartRecord=1

    Blade sharpeners.

Take a look at the DMT model in the Magna Guide Quad. Uses two dual grit Dia fold sharpeners with a guide that can also be used with a bench stone. I learned to freehand with this device. You can also just get the guide for benchstone use for about ten bucks or so. Well worth the money which...
