I started a bushcraft wiki today that can be edited by anybody. Its called Red Foxx Bushcraft (if anyone wants to make a logo feel free and send it to me. I will give credit to you). Come on over and make a page or a lot more :) Heres a link to it. The more people that add to it, the more...
I have $100 from christmas and I'm thinking about getting some bushcraft books, but don't know which to get.
I'm thinking about Ray Mears books and a wild edibles book for the Minnesota area.
What's the difference between these...
do you have a good sharpening stone?
I'm young(13) so I've been using my family's stuff but now I want my own so I'm asking for,
6x8 tarp-$6.00
Mora 137-$28.00
stainless steel nalgene nesting cup-$10.00
Ranger Firesteel-$3.25
Smith's diamond sharpening stone-$7.00
I suppose this is a fairly common thread on bushcraft/survival forums...
I'm looking for a good sharpening stone thats fairly cheap, $10-20(yes, dollars) thats kind of small and lightweight (maybe shorter than an index card, maybe pocket size).
I found this one...
I'm pretty sure he uses the Gransfor ALL the time. He has a video on youtube that tells you how to pick out an axe and it features his favorite axe which is the Gransfor.
Heres the link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tUUctg6dfk
I'm going to get a Mora from this site, http://www.ragweedforge.com/SwedishKnifeCatalog.html
Sorry for jacking you thread a little bit, but do you have to oil laminated carbon steel as much as you would normal? (actually I don't even know what laminated carbon steel is...)
I decided that I'll save this project until later, as it is the school year... thanks for all the great info though, i'll be sure to use it when the time comes :)
Thanks guys, how expensive would it be to make it, with all the extra things like brass rods and that stuff? I have the tools needed, so I should be good with that.
