A recent promotion has found me travelling more often on work related trips.

What cases do people recommend for such matters?

I need to keep uniform tidy, carry laptop/books and gear for the gym too.

Ideally this would be really well made, usable as carry-on for holidays and be built to last. I wouldn't mind a wheeled/handle type.

Just checking here as I trust the views here!!

Cheers.

Don't know how they compare for price with Samsonite or similar.......but suspect theres not much difference?

The deal is to discover which ones are worth the money. Seems true here but only at the top end.

I had business flight travel more than once a month for 6 years. Load the bag, unload the bag.
What could be simpler? That gig wore out 2 suit bags and a big Samsonite brief case.
For the past 15 years, it's been vehicle/highway, more than once a month.
Amazing how that steady erosion beats the complete hello out of kit.

Buy something fairly good. Should last a good long while.
See what you like? Ask other travelers what works and what doesn't.
Then you know what you really want.

I looked a while back for my wife, whose travelling long haul rather more for work. If you want carry on that you can live out of for a week, then there are loads around, but after looking at websites for cabin crew and people who travel a lot for work, Travel Pro http://www.crewoutfitters.com/brands/travelpro.html (especially the 9 http://www.travelpro.co.uk/showbrand.asp?id=23, which pretty much discountinued, but that 20in bag is a good price) and Luggageworks http://www.luggageworks.com/ were highly recommended by US aircrew. The 22in ones are just small enough to be carry on, and are apparently really tough - they have to be, if you fly for a living. Not cheap, and Luggage Works (which were once known as Purdy Neat Luggage!) is very much US based. On the other hand, if your passing through an airport where they have a shop (and there are a number of US retailers who stock both brands that also have airport stores), or can have an item delivered to your hotel in the US, why not go for it. Travel Pro is available here, but buying in the US would be generally cheaper, and some online stores ship to the UK.

What I love is all the other stuff you can get for cabin crew luggage, http://www.stopoverstore.com/ - you first wonder why you need a cooler bag, until you realise that being cabin crew these days isn't quite as glamourous as it used to be, and bringing along your own pack lunch is often now standard.

However, when she was in the States a couple of months back, she realised that she needed a bag for a laptop, paperwork etc that she could carry comfortably (she was knocked off her bike by a car a couple of years back and her wrist got busted, and its been weak ever since). She spotted one of these http://www.sears.com/delsey-absolut...p-01498783000P?prdNo=6&blockNo=6&blockType=G6 on sale, and reckons its great. Its a roll along (so she doesn't have to carry it), so easy to use on the train, plane, etc, but small enough for easy carry on. You can get a fair amount of stuff in it, perhaps just enough for overnight with perhaps a suit bag. Certainly fine for one day meetings, etc. They dont do that one anymore, but there are loads like it around.

If it was me, I'd probably go for the Travel pro option - you can get a suit or two in one, etc. And you can always use a tote for a laptop, etc. But there is loads of choice, and its what you want.

If your travelling long haul, and you get cold, and either worry about the mankyness of the airline blankets, of find there aren't any at all, go for the Westin Travel Blanket. http://europe.westinstore.com/en/bedding/duvets-blankets/travel-blanket.html Not cheap, and it sort of looks like a cheap pillow when packed, and a cheap 4.5 tog duvet when opened, but my wife swears by it. She hates being cold, especially on planes, and I came across it when she asked me to find something better than the bog standard fleece blanket - One or two of the US airlines were using them for 1st class passengers, who were then nicking them! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unit...blankets-purchase-discontinuation-merged.html She gets very jealous looks when she uses it on a flight, and if you put it in a compression bag, you can get it down to the size of a smallish sleeping bag compressed, so it fine for carryon. She also keeps nicking my Alpit Mission packs bags -https://www.alpkit.com/products/mission - a bargain, and really useful.
