Which field guide do you use?

I don't carry any books into the field -- I teach foraging locally so it should be in my head. But my "plant" library has about 50 books in it, including material by Ray Mears. We have a lot of plants in common plus some techniques are transferable. When I find a plant of interest I take...

    Ray Mears Axe sharpness?

I think the sharper the better. It's safer and requires less work.

I've exhausted the internet, which I also know to be very inaccurate. I am hoping someone with a book would have something definitive. The question is which part is edible when? There is the seed, the aril, and the exocarp and mesocarps.

Hi, I'm Green Deane (said Dean) in Florida. I run a bare bones foraging website and have a lot of bad videos on You Tube. I also teach foraging. I have quite a few subscribers from your area as well as down under. Many of the plants I cover are in your back yard. In fact, I am putting together...

    Ticks

Look into sublimed sulfur as a preventative. The state of Florida has been recommending it for many decades. It is a powder you can apply by putting in an old sock or the like and tamping it around cuffs and the like. Not to be used if you're allergic to sulfur. Apparently the ticks hop on you...

    Mulberries

Here, Florida, when they turn from green to their final color, which in my yard is dark purple. Also look into the edibility of the leaves (by humans) for your species. Mine has edible young leaves if they are cooked.

My first post, and from Florida about an Australian tree. But, some of you may have books and connections I do not have. It is about the Cupaniopsis anacardioides. Several sites say the ripe fruit is edible, and several say it is not. The Aboriginals were said to consider the ripe fruit choice...
