In the woods if possible.
Apparantly, on Wednesday, the day before the NoW shut remember, someone registered "sundaysun.com/.co.uk" and "thesunonsunday.com/.co.uk" as new domain names! Now, doesn't that smell ever so slightly pilchardy? It was always a plan to get the Sun to cover the extra day. Cynical bunch of w*!^$!s

Why did my Mystic Meg not see it.

phil

She probably did, that's why she will probably be working for the Sun on Sunday in a week or two!! ;)

Along with a selection of former NoTW journos. NoTW mrk II (or Sun on Sunday) is due to start in a month or so. I'll eat my own Tilly (and claim a new one back) if you don't see something like a sunday edition of the Sun. Since I don't own a Tilly I will buy one and eat it. Cynicism is a key requirement if you watch anything that comes out of the Murdoch empire. Are they a fit and proper to run a TV station or network? OfCom get your act in gear now.

Sorry prejudiced rant over with.

Nearly! Did you know that Ed Milliband has in his spin team an ex employee of News International too!! Seems Cameron had Coulson for a while so Milliband junior mark 2 had to get his own. Wonder if that'll get mentioned everytime his side try to use Coulson to get at Cameron. Is there a single political party that hasn't cosied up to the press and employed former pressmen or women to run or help their spin and public image?

Boycott The Sun, Times and Sunday Times - it's all Murdoch filth, and they do not represent the interests of the British people. It's time to give them a clear message.

Don't forget mail.Think thats one of theirs too.

BTW there are still some newsagents in Liverpool who don't stock the Sun after the disgraceful lies where they printed the story that some Liverpool fans were stealing from the dead bodies of their fellow Liverpool fans at hillborough disaster. As distastful as that was nothing happened about it due to PCC not being any good. Then now NoTW disgraces are getting some more attention but it took the tapping of the missing girl's phone to get everyone stirred up. Also for some the hacking of the phones of the relatives of dead soldiers.

How many years have we had a gutter press that is not subject to any checks and balances in their behaviour or standards? How many years more before there is some means to hold dodgy practices to book? I have stopped reading newspapers but use Google news to read a selection of news from around the world. I never read anything from a tabloid paper link and actually prefer to read from foreign newspapers. Heck I will read an English language Chinese publication's news before I'd read NoTW, Sun, Mirror, Express or Mail. That is not snobbery but my personal standards.

If you want to give them a message stop buying newspapers but read news online for free. If newspaper sales drop then they will have to do something. Money has a loud voice if there is neough of it talking!!

All they'll do is make the online versions subscription only..., no loss and more profit as it's cheaper to maintain an online paper than a hard copy version

First it was estate agents, then Mp's and now its journalists. Who'll be next for a kicking in this holier-than-thou society of ours?

Anyone who hacks into the phone of a murdered child and deletes messages on their voicemail causing her family to believe that she is still alive, deserve to be publicly flogged in my opinion. Perhaps interfering with active police investigations and causing bereaved families additional anguish is okay in your eyes? No, I didn't think so... So, what kind of sanction should a corporation expect if they conduct their business in this way? And what exactly is your point here?

Why is anybody supprised? These journalists will do whatever is needed to get what they want. I would put all those directly involved on trial and hope they get sent down, shutting down this paper is a bit OTT, I don't read it but a couple of million others do. I do have a copy of NOTW from about 100 years ago, a proper paper it was back then.

I prefer the Guardian or Independent these days since the Times lost focus IMO a few years ago.

Murdoch is an aged man with far far too much power.

I don,t think the NOW scuttled the ship because of the latest distasteful events being exposed, are we really shocked or are we so naive we did not think this kind of practice existed by these noworms.
What if the NOWORMS pulled the plug before even bigger and more repulsive revelations were to be exposed.
Puzzling though, if you were to apply for a civil service job your background and character is checked.
Seems spin doctors can make anyone dizzy, eh bawjaws David.

I found this illuminating:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14052690

On the face of it there's little love lost between Mr Grant and Mr McMullen, and Mr. McMullen corroborated Mr. Grant's story, so it seems likely that the account is true.

If that's the case then it would make a lot of sense for Mr. Murdoch to close the NoW offices and make sure that all the records were lost. If evidence comes to light substantiating these allegations, then it's likely that serious criminal charges will follow. The expenses scandal would pale into insignificance by comparison.

Incidentally at least for me, this interview shows Mr. Grant in a refreshingly new light. Not being one for fan clubs I'd like to take this opportunity to thank him, especially for the way he handled his interaction with Mr. McMullen on air. Very impressive.

That's already pretty much standard over here. It costs them less than a hard copy so it makes 'em more money.

I have no particular liking for Murdoch or the NoW. I think it is wrong to hack into phones, especially those of bereaved relatives and worst of all an abducted child and those who did so and those executives who sanctioned it deserve what they get.

Journalists have paid coppers for donkeys years, sometimes the results are in the public interest, sometimes not.

I think, though, it is too easy to jump on the 'bash the media' bandwagon. Remember there are plenty of decent journalists at the NoW who have never hacked a phone or bribed a policeman who will now lose their jobs.

These practices went on elsewhere too and that might well come out, but not every journalist should be tarred with the same brush. It is too easy to blame everything on the media.

Also, the NoW was Britain's best selling paper so there was obviously a market for what they served up. You may not like it, neither did I, but lots of people did.
