I was chatting to the proprietor of a well known surplus store; in Exeter frequented by a lot of members on this forum, on Friday.

Apparently the Tali-ban have been getting hold of a lot of surplus Dutch kit and now the Americans have ordered the Dutch to destroy any surplus rather than put it out for sale.

so within the next few weeks the cost of Dutch surplus gear is going to rocket up as it becomes harder to get hold of. so the advice was to get in and buy stuff now while the stocks are good and prices are relatively low.

the "war on terror" must be going really well if we've resorted to stealing their trousers

sounds like a bit of cunning bushcraft UK aimed sales propaganda! :35:
it's not the first, and it won't be the last.

I also heard a surplus shop owner mentioning the price of cotton going up (so everyone could hear) so you need to buy in army clothing now! :lmao:

and i heard from a Cadet leader that he'd been told (don't know where from) they can't use British army rations any more, as the price to make a single box is £35...hmm

very clever! a bit like the adverts before Christmas that cause people to panic buy!

I was at Endicotts the last week and the really nice guy that served me was telling me the same story.

It's a real shame as I rate the Dutch surplus stuff.

We experience a misterious shortage of clogs lately here in Holland. Apparently there are misterious powers buying up the whole supply....
