Hello found this and another bowl adze in my grandparents old barn in northern Sweden. They had no shaft and looked like they been well used... but how old they are and where they were made I don't know. I only know that they have been in the barn for at least 20 years. The handle is made from birch "svallved".

I'm so glad I saved them from rusting away and I hope I can make them justice.

Wow that looks a real beauty. I bet it will work a treat. I tend to put shorter handles on mine but it depends a bit on how you hold the bowl.
I found this today and it sure has a short handle! The cutting edge is 12-13 cm wide and straight, I have never seen something like it. At first I thought about rehandle this one also but the handle is totally secure so I leave it on! Only some sharpening to do then I gotta try it. Why would anyone choose this tool and for what task? The bevel is on the inside!
