if they are comfortable, why worry?

Ive just been given a pair of cheapo walking boots, and they are doing well.

What do you think?

I bought a pair of Hi-Tec boots 2 years ago cost me £30 from a fairly expensive shop. I have wore them lots they have done a few hundred hill and lowland miles. Other than spraying silicone on them to re-proof the fabric i have had no problems at all and they are still good to go.

I bought a pair of Miendl Vakuum GTX boots about 3 weeks ago to see me through the next few years. On a recent 5 day camping/hiking trip to the lakes i took both pair with me. The Miendl's for the walks and the Hi-Tec for hanging round camp etc. I never put the Miendl's on. There was no need the cheap boots were still all i needed. The Miendl's will be used soon enough when i get my bottom up on some serious hills.

Yep! I agree if they do the bizz then good for you. My cheap (£12 in a market deck shoes) are coming up to their 3rd birthday.. been soaked in saltwater dozens of times, I just dry them out slowly, give them a good polish with ordinary boot polish and they're still living..:D

current issue UK s95' assault boots are just perfect.

what i wear too, prolly not for climbing up a mountain straight away but when you've broke your feet in (you break in your feet not the boots with s95's) they're good for any hill or mountain you can throw at em.

in the summer i'll be grabbing some of those trecpac desert boots, they're high leg suede and fabric but give good support and have a decent sole.

Your right, I shouldnt fuss about fancy clobber.

Boots I get as do I the rest of my clothing...mostly given to me.

Recently I got a nice fleece jumper, an Addias one for Bath Rugby club, its snug and is made from climawarm material.
