The victorinox soldier comes prettu close in terms of blade and tools, but has anodised ally scales, can be had for about £17 on the web.
Camillus recently went belly up, but you might find one on the "bay" if you search for scout knife.

You might want to look at the newest Bulldog version as well.

Now I like that :D Any chance of a link to somewhere that sells them? I know you can get all those tools on a SAK and I have quite a few of them but I really like the 'traditional' look if you know what I mean.
Cheers

Google is yer friend. :) Googling bulldog scout knives is about the best I can tell ya. I bought mine at a local knife show. I know they are sold on ebay regularly.

That Bulldog is handsome.
Seems they are made in Solingen, and the Bulldog brand is US.

I managed to find one of these today in the junk shop, a little cleaning and loving care and I will have a nice folding knife.

get one of those!!
i got one in my local surplus shop a few years ago, it was very rusty but hey it only cost £2.50! i cleaned it up and sharpened it and its brilliant. the steel on these knives is top notch, i have put a convex edge on mine and it has a wicked edge on it:D the only problem iv found is that the blade wobbles a bit but after a few years all folders wobble a bit and i recon its at least 20 years old???

my mate has a newer model, its the same but it is stainless steel instead of carbon and it just wont hold a good edge so i wouldnt get a new one

I've got one of the new British Army Knives (the one with the old english lettering on the scale)
"The Genuine
BRITISH ARMY KNIFE (in old english)
Stainless Steel
Made in Sheffield England"

Came with a badly ground edge but a bit of elbow grease over a diamond stone (£8 from Aldi late last week - should still be some in stock now if you want one) soon sorted that. It now has a decently sharp edge (plenty sharp enough for anything I've needed so far) and feels great in the hand.

My only gripe is that the marlinspike is sort of in the way when paring a small fruit. It's improved by opening the spike to peel, but I'm going to buy a 1 or 2 piece one without the spike soon.

Hi Pete,

I think its probably older than that. My Dad was issued one of those when he joined the RAF at the age of 19. He died last year at 79 years old so that makes his one 60 yrs old!

Just wish I could find it. Have been looking on and off whenever I visit my Mum but nothing yet....

ATB, Jon.

Love these knifes. Best bit of British army kit ever.

Damn you Hoodoo!

I have this image in mind....

"Hello, my name is Minotaur, and I am a Knifeaholic......"

Had to edit this three times, I am really not a morning person!

I suppose it won't help if I told you they feel really nice in the hand too. ;)

I've just ordered mine from www.greenmanbushcraft.com as I wanted an alternative to the SAK. The only one I've seen without the marlin spike has a locking blade. Would you say these are about as tough as this style of knife gets?
