I have absolutely no problem with a policy of no religious discussion.
I think it would have been better for the forum if a reminder of the policy had been posted by a mod after posts where people had been suggesting ways of being rude and how to upset religious people doing their entirely lawful activity of calling on homes, one person boasting that they sic their dogs on them.
Perhaps a reminder of that policy should have been posted then, rather than immediately after a post defending a religion, as well as reminding them that it is unacceptable behaviour to set dogs on people and that nobody wants to hear about it.
Is there a discrimination policy? Perhaps such a policy would have been highlighted if someone tried to offend the muslim faith. It seems Christians are fair game.
A reminder at that time would have been preferable to a reminder coming after a post where I was merely clearing up some misconceptions about one particular faith. Does attacking religion and suggesting offensive behaviour or even violence against it's members not contravene forum policy? If so, surely defending a religious organisation is also acceptable. If anyone wants to know anything about Jehovah's Witnesses before they make assumptions I'd be happy to recieve PMs.
I had thought highly of this forum. I thought it was full of people who were tolerant and open minded and enjoyed nature in the same way I do, if perhaps for different reasons. I hope my first impression reflects the truth.
And before anyone asks the witty question: No I am not related to Big Dan.
