So would your replicas be the one knife tool you'd take if you were going to be dropped off in a remote forest environment. Honest question - just wondering how usable or misplaced you feel it maybe as a actually useful survival / bushcraft tool.


But it IS a great iconic knife.

Definitely not. It’s very much of its time. It’ll do the job for sure if it was pressed and they’re exceptionally well made. The hollow handle weak tang argument doesn’t hold water as Jimmy excecuted it very well. But it’s not for me. I’d put it more in the combat/survival category too.

I remember. I saw one of the two I had commissioned come up for sale not so long back for a nuts amount. Although there were only two made.

Fabulous report, love the out of the box theme .
I also grew up in the 80's and loved camping hiking with all that old kit , never had any bad experiences and was left with loads of great memories

It’s got a good cast and a good director. We are overdue a good Nam film. Hope its not too OTT. I like the directors quote saying that he saw First Blood when he was in his early teens and it made him spend his summers in the woods doing stuff with a knife. And he wants youngsters to leave the film thinking and then doing the same. Although. Youngsters of today have a very different mindset to those of 45 years ago. So we’ll see how that works out. He also said it would be in keeping with the first film and not the super hero 80s action hero we see JR become. A film very much inspired by that final speech and what made JR turn from a confident popular outgoing person in his youth, to a torn introverted vet with PTSD.

Yep - also looking forward to it and the potential trifecta of good director , good actor and good source material could make it an epic prequal.
I do have a concern if they will leave it as a prequal however or if a success try to milk its resurgence with further films.

We shall have to wait and see !! But I thought it deserved a bump on your epic thread.
