I think getting out in the countryside in the fresh air, whether it be enjoying some peace and quite or a physical activity is nigh on crucial for us.

It’s only very recent in the human time line where we now stick ourselves inside our insulted houses in front of a screen for hours per day. We are not really designed to do this and it’s not good for our mental or physical health to do it continuously.

Don’t underestimate the uplifting effect a little bit of sunshine has, particularly this time of year. If you manage to get a few rays it will give you an instant mood boost.

Looking forward to spring. :)

With regard to fishing and bushcraft specifically then yes, absolutely.
We are meant to do these things. We were doing them for thousands of years before the stresses of modern life entered into the human equation.

This is exactly it. Evolution takes thousands and thousands of years, we've only been living in our current way for a tiny fraction of our history and it's clear that we're not adapted to it.

I'm all for outdoor activities and in nature time for mental health benefits, I'd go as far as to say for the average person it's essential. We can adapt away from it, but I think that we are the lesser for it. Just running the BushMoots has shown me time and time again the benefits of time outdoors, many times over the years people have expressed how being outdoors with like minded people, being relaxed, present etc has transformed their lives.

I agree with other comments that proper qualified help is sometimes needed, being outdoors isn't the answer to all mental health issues but it can definitely address some. I"m an advocate of serving others (outward focus) and time outdoors to help with a few of the personal issues that arise with people.

We have an organization in the US called ‘Healing Waters’ that gets troubled military veterans outside and fly fishing with other vets. Do yall have anything similar?
