OK, I imagine getting a meet up organised is a nightmare so firstly, anyone interested in theory?

Secondly, when? I suggest spring or summer 26?

Thirdly, where? This one I'll leave open as I have no idea being a solo stealth camper mostly.

Anyway it's just a thought but would be great to meet a few like minded folk, swap some knowledge and even trade kit etc... Whatever folks fancy.

I guess venue will be determined by potential interest of numbers.
I may know a couple of places - Scout ground related but does depend on A) Numbers and B) How far people are willing to travel- and what they consider to be a fair distance to themselves - South West is geographically quite a large area.

Above is just my experience of trying to set up and organise events in the past.

Nice one mate, I can imagine it's a hard thing to organise as bushcrafters tend to be quite isolationist in their nature but we should potentially still try.

Built it and they will come

A word of caution if you pay for the site. I was running a Mid-Wales group in the Hafren Forest a few years ago and paid the landowner up front based on numbers attending - not a huge amount but we had exclusive access to the water supply and toilets. Even from this forum I had people not turn up without even the grace to let me know, so I was personally out of pocket.

To be clear, most people who committed did turn up.

Yep - agree -Payment for participation would be needed in full and advance.

If it happens again next year, there is always the sw bushcraft show at Newton abbot. Site and entertainment already sorted.

That's not a bad idea as a first meet up, from there we can judge numbers etc and potentially arrange further meets.. Woody girl you arent as green as your cabbage looking good call
I'm not at all green or cabbage looking cheeky!!!
Just common sense realy. Though it's a long time to wait and totaly dependant on Jonathan being able to put on another show.
Might be a good last resort tho if nothing gets going before then.

Well, just to let potential meeters know, the Newton about, south west bushcraft show isn't happening this year, maybe will go ahead next year.
So.. let's think again.
Is mid exmoor too far for most people. I know of a large, relatively cheap camp site(4 fields) Riverside and fires allowed. Direct access to the moors for walking if you want Possibility?
It's a realy beautiful site. Small shop on site open a few hours a day for basic supplies.
Busy in summer hols, but quiet at other times. Last time I went, nice 65 and I were the only ones on the whole site just after the Easter hols.

I might be up for a trip there. After all I can see the eastern edge of the moor from our bathroom :) . I could bike up there and test my new tent etc. All depends upon date and there being no rally to which I might have been invited.

Anyone else?

I haven't got my head around Easter yet, I've had to cancel the Easter plan, so something else after the Easter crowds have gone home sounds good. TBA for now but I need to decide asap. What duration were you thinking of?

Friday to Sunday make a weekend of it. I'll have to look at dates as every 3rd weekend of the month I have certain responsibility I can't realy dodge , so maybe after the early may bank holiday..
Have a google look at
Westermill farm, exmoor. It's not massively expensive, and the people are very hands off.
Regularly camped there over the years, and had a few group of pals meet ups there. Plenty of room In field 4, which is where I always camp.
Very narrow road to get to the farm tho, and be prepared to give way to the odd local who demand you back up, because they are working, or you may be there a while!
Worth the effort to get there, mind.
