I concur. It is a water kettle for outdoors and nothing more. All the add-ons are just stupid in my mind and that goes for all of the brands.
Look at the origininal use. For the ghillie to make tea for his laird and his fishing company. Or other camping.
Can´t understad why the need to make a simple thing complicated with all the extra add-ons.
....the original was the Irish navvies brewing up as they worked digging canals.
The Irish drink more tea than even the Brits :)....and the base allows the judicious use of a frying pan to do the bacon butties too

I've got both, a Kelly Kettle and a Ghillie Kettle, they are both different sizes so not a replacement for each other. The Kelly Kettle lives on my allotment and the Ghillie Kettle lives in my car, basically the ability for a quick brew on the go anywhere.

They advantages of the Kelly kettle are it's reliability in most weathers, it's use of small "kindling" and it's efficiency.

It is not the be all and end all but what it can do (boil water), it does well

I’ve always described them as bomb proof.
Well, I’ll know in the morning. I always leave the steel kit out at night.
I’m tucked into my pit in my PJ’s reading and nearly asleep. It’s 2.15 am.

I’ve just heard my kitchen being kicked around by the herd. One of my neighbours is right outside the tent door.

Whatever damage is done, is done so it can wait till morning!!!!.

Disaster!

They’ve kicked the coffee pot apart. So much for overnight prepping.

Nothing is damaged and nothing organic was hurt making of this picture.

Have fun with your Scout. Do practice using it before you need it.

Let us know how you get on along the way, maybe show us a picture :)

Do they make a stainless steel one now?

Aluminium will last a lifetime whichever make you use but you don’t get a second chance if you boil it dry.
SS gives you more time to save it.
