Regrets - The things you gave away or sold but wish you hadn't

So, with my current Rat problem, I realise how much I regret giving away my HW100 air rifle and selling my s410 rifle, tank and adapter cheap. I really wish I had them now, especially the HW100, I miss that gun, especially as the old Meteor I've put a through pellets through in my anti-rat campaign has spilt its guts...

So, it got me thinking about all the stuff we sell or give away that we end up regretting, I can't afford to replace a rifle, hence I wish I still had it, how about you guys, what things do you wish you'd kept hold of and why?

Not sold or given away, but in a moment of stupidity I put down a SAK on a rock at the beach, forgot to pick it up, only realised later once the tide had risen . OK it's only a SAK, but I'd had it for a number of years and my wife had bought it for me

My very first gun was an Anshultz air rifle.
break barrel and brilliant thing. i regretted selling it as soon as it left my hands.

I too had a SAK. it was a large/ medium sized thing with magnifying glass and various other gadgets one rarely uses.
again it was a first knife thing and although i didn't use it much it occupied a place in my heart.
Pre 9-11 days my wife and i went on holiday. i took the knife out of my pocket to board the plane. Unbeknown to me my wife though it would be useful and put it in the carryon.
i had to say goodbye to it at the security desk.
i was not happy.

No, I don't throw things away so can't regret my actions in that way. I am a natural hoarder.

However my partner isn't so she does a lot of throwing away. Mostly my stuff. Apparently if you don't use something for a long as they've known you it's fair game! IMHO I'm just keeping it because you never know when you might need it!

Right now I have a csc kayak (perception dancer clone) and a euro kayaks blitz that's officially on the "at risk" register. Her totally illogical reasoning is that if I really ever decide to get back into kayaking again I can just buy another, better one.

We're not made of money! Why throw away a perfectly good kayak on the highly likely chance I'll never paddle a kayak again? Doesn't make sense to me.

However I do have a habit of leaving insulated mugs of nice coffee while packing up kayaking kit then driving off leaving it on the wall. When you're still warming up after a cold days paddle with a few hours drive home a nice coffee is certainly missed.

I'm more likely to regret buying kit than selling on our giving away. But that's easier to manage. Good reviews don't guarantee an item suits you too

I regret selling a custom made Colt Python and a Beretta factory adjusted for me.
The Colt I sold when we moved to UK, the Beretta when we moved to Cayman.

Both well under value as I had to sell quickly.

- a beautiful short wave valve radio that the missus decided was old fashioned and ugly
- my old Vango Force 10
- Karrimor pack frames and hip belts - 2 off
- an air jack
- my first series 3 109" - gave it away for a song
- …… the list goes on!

'76 Triumph Bonneville, '69 VW Type 2 and my Series3 Land Rover. All of which I sold for about £1200 each and now could never afford to replace!

I remember selling my Airarms TX200, can’t remember for how much, I suppose I don’t need it now anyway, it’s been replaced by a shotgun which only comes out once in a blue moon.
I do however miss my Suzuki SV650, it was a lovely bike, but I sold it to pay for the Landy, so I can’t moan too much.

I gave away just about all my camping gear last year when I moved home. Two things out of a "ton" of stuff, I regret giving away, A fixed blade knife, and a cleaver, that I'd owned for years. It's been interesting renewing my gear, because I now know what I don't need. Two bikes I sold and regretted; Mk1 Moto Guzzi Lemans and US spec Triumph TR6 Trophy. Like this one,

This was my Remington 700 PSS. I rebuilt this rifle and took it out of the HS Precision stock that the US Army Snipers use and into the AICS that puts it in a format that the British Forces use. I added the enormous T12 moderator. This thing was a tack driver.

I was placed in the McQueens Sniper Competition at the Bisley Autumn Internationals with this rifle against rifles costing 5 to 10 times my budget.

I sold it to buy an Accuracy International AE (the rifle mine ended up looking like) This has a big competition barrel on it and whilst it’s great for 1200 yard shooting I just don’t have the ability to snap shoot the McQueens with it.

Gutted! Still in touch with the guy that bought it.

To be honest, I would have got rid of them sooner or later. I got rid of some other "desirable" stuff before I moved, because I no longer have the luxury of a workshop. Throughout the years of motorcycling, there has always been one constant, a small Honda of some kind. So, once everything had gone, I recently bought one of these,

It's a bit fancy compared to the old C90 cub, EfI, ABS, and suchlike, but it'll do me, and it's doing in the region of 170mpg.

An "album" was a proper thing. A CD just doesn't hack it, even though it'll hold more music. And streaming? Nah.
