New one on me, I'm still smarting over my Stanley Thru Tang chisel not having a one piece through tang and therefore only lasting a few months of very gentle work.
Anyway, never seen these before and I'm calling "Gimmicky tat" before someone else does.

If I lose the placky chisel covers that come with new chisels I just fire some Polymorph into some boiling water and make another chisel cover.

I bought one of these in B&Q's mammoth clear out type sale not long before Christmas.
I paid £1 for it, and reckoned that well, even if it was truly bad, then it could kick about safely in my wee toolbox that's kept to hand behind the hoover, for use just as a, "That'll do it", type thing.

Not sure about the covers to be honest, but they do seem to fit well enough, I just don't think I'd trust them to take much of a hammering, if any, even though the end caps suggest that they're intended to do just that.

Well, fair enough. I can't argue with a quid pricetag.:)

Y'see ? I asked that too, and no one's given me a sound answer yet on it.

At a quid, it's in the tool box and it's getting used for things like chipping off old paint in the bits where the door snibs fit.
Bit of a brute of thing tbh.

There's been at least two threads over on BB on the legality.

Would the same legal confusion surround a butterfly handled saw?

I am considering making one but can't be arsed with any legal fluff..

Seems like a novel/practical way to make a wooden handle/s for replaceable folding saw blades.

How is that not, legally, a balisong?

I was wondering about that bit.

I remember the knives being banned in about 88 or so but I guess as its not a knife its OK.
Mind, when the law gets to the point where its banning chisels I think we will have well and truly entered the silly zone.

Maybe that chisel is more designed for the other trades like plumbers and sparkies who only really use them to notch a joist or a stud. As its only in the inch size and not the full range I suppose its not really aimed at carpenters and joiners.

Oh, we're watching the silly zone recede in the rear view mirror matey

The law states something like "or pointed objects" so there's no reason at all a chisle couldn't fall foul of the law, and a chisle does of course have a cutting edge, even if this one is only 1/2"

Its an inch chisel. 25mm.
But yeah to all the rest.

Mind, even I would have paid a quid for one.

I'd sure not like to get stabbed with the above featured chisel, coming out of the off-license.
Would prefer getting slashed by a laplander any day. :)

Not something I ever thought I'd read here, I surely wouldn't like either :-(
