Looking at all the knifes on the market, I notice that near universally they have a small ricasso on the blade near the handle. Why? What is the advantage of the ricasso in use?

Also, for stick tang knives it's easier to fit the handle to a snug fit if doing it by hand.![]()
I look at the cuts on my hands, and wonder if you might be right on that one...
