As stated, a waterspout somebody captured in Pensacola Bay yesterday. One day I'll get lucky enough to catch shots like this hopefully.

No they usually don't do a lot of damage as to be honest, they rarely hit anything. But yes, the potential is there.
 
I think they'd just dump a large volume of water if they hit anything. I've seen quite a few at sea it was always amazing to watch.
 
I saw two of the coast of Minorca before a big storm hit the island. The second one made landfall a few hundred metres down the coast from where I was and collapsed into a massive deluge of water when it ran into the cliffs.

My pics of it were rubbish though, unlike that one in the opening thread.
