Make sure the android has the correct date/time. That can cause certificate authentication problems.
Does https://valid-isrgrootx1.letsencrypt.org/ have the same problem? That might indicate the Let's Encrypt root certificate is missing, which is possible for versions of Android prior to 7.1.1.

Date and time all set correctly, clicking on the link it goes straight through to the page.

So you have the root certificate installed in Android. It didn't come preinstalled until version 7.1.1

I've figured a work round for now, i go to www.bushcraftuk.com which opens up the main site page with no issues whatsoever, then tap on the three wee lines and tap on community, seems to work, albeit in a convoluted way.
What was your original method of accessing the forum? If you were using a link, or a bookmark with link saved, could you post those here?
I can imagine this being caused by something you email provider is doing to the link.
Could you right click, select copy link (or something like that) and paste it here?
And then also manually highlight the link and paste it here?
The links probably won't work for me because I'm not signed in as you, I'm just interested to see what they look like.
