I just wish I'd managed a shot of the butterfly that I saw as well.

'Twas a nice day. :)

Thanks Niels,

Pic 5 is very spiny on the leaf surface, and I can never remember what it is. Possibly bristly oxtongue. Soil is dry limestone grassland there.
Pic 6 is foxglove and nettle
Last pic is ground ivy, yes.

Picture 2 will be really good in a week or so, because it is a field of wild daffodil, something you don't see much any more.

The blossom is plum (uncertain if cherry plum or bullace). Only have cherry blossom and plum blossom at the moment.

Starting to think The Big Lebowski might be right about the teasel in pic 5 though.

Lots of old mullein heads at this site, as there are 3 sorts of mullein present.

hi mike can you name all the pics for us numpties out there who know nothing regards dave

Short answer: No. Not sure what some of them are.

However...
Green
1. Elder
2. Wild daffodil not yet in flower
3. Don't know - I just liked the colour
4. Cow parsley (probably)
5. Teasel (possibly)
6. Foxglove & nettle
7. Hemlock water dropwork

Brown
1. Don't know. Stem from last year. I should, but I don't. Possibly a greater willowherb. Would like someone to help with this one
2. Horse
3. Head of a greater mullein from last year
4. Hazel catkins
5. Burdock heads

White
1. Sheep
2. Plum blossom

Yellow
1. Lesser Celandine
2. Lichen on oak
3. Daffodil (commercial variety)

Orange
1. Not sure. Suspect willow stems as they bordered a pond, but the pond is manmade so could be something non-native

Blue
1. Germander Speedwell

Purple
1. Ground Ivy

I couldn't make up my mind between cherry and plum but was going to go for plum - s'why I asked :) Ours (neither) not out yet.
