Very open and honest fellow. Hell of an undertaking especially since admitting he had never done anything like it before.

I remember watching it when it was first broadcast on the t.v.. It was easy to sit in the warmth and comfort of home and comment on the things that he did wrong but what I found so fascinating was the extraordinary emotional roller coaster he rode on going from joy to despair, comfort to terror - and back again. It was a really good, honest and interesting programme. I did - and still do - envy him the opportunity he had though!

I've only watched the first twelve minutes, so far. I think that he says in the first few minutes that he has climbed Everest and walked to the North Pole already, and that he grew up on a farm, so he knows how to shoot. I think that gives him a pretty good grounding for what he set out to do, although the solitude and the idea of bears seem to be his worst worry at the start.

Don't reply with spoilers, please!

I remember watching it on the tele at the time and being impressed with him.

My main comment was that I thought, for me, it was a wasted opportunity in that it would have been so much better as a TV programme if there had been some kind of voice over commenting on what he was doing right/wrong, how he could have done things differently etc - ie to make it more of an educational programme than a voyeuristic one, so that viewers - and he - could learn from it.

If he had had a bit more experience before going out there then I think it would have been a great program, its a very interesting program as it is on the human mind but it shows the stark difference between being an active outdoor person in the UK and trying to live in the wild.

Probably caused by the lack of carbs, if the brain doesn't get it's sugar fix it can play havoc with your emotional swings.
