By the way, since I'm putting in an order anyway, Simon suggested I buy the hide from Le Prevo. For 3mm good quality stuff it's about £6 a square foot. They do stuff at half that but it might have the odd scratch or uneven colour - it's all undyed/untreated. What would people prefer?

If people are learning, get the cheaper hide, it will all even out when it's dyed and finished anyway and the odd scratch just adds character to it.

Right, I've ordered some hide - asked for 13 square feet of the cheap stuff. After delivery and VAT, it comes to about £4 a square foot.
Once I find out the actual size of the hide they're sending, I'll let people know & we can reserve amounts - I suggest we sell it in 1/2sq.ft. units which should be enough to make a sheath or two

For just sheaths, a couple of inches will do.

That's good. I've ordered a 2" blade. Got 2 handles coming so can get a different blade if my leather skillz come into fruition

You are welcome to come along to this meet & we don't have a limit on the number coming to these meets at this time. The pitches are plenty big enough, so fitting people in is not a problem. Everything you should need to know is in the OP, if you need to know anything else then just ask.

Would any of you be interested in going to this one? It's £80 from Friday 1st 12pm to Monday the 4th (Jubilee Bank Holiday) = 3 nights & 3 full days at the event.
