Hi,

I am newish to the bushcraft community. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 5 year old boy, who absolutely loves the outdoors. We already hike, forage, camp, we are growing a food forest in our garden, we do plenty of insect/ animal identification. However what we are lacking is a forest school/ bushcraft groups aimed at children in the southern Somerset/ northern Devon region.
I have tried reaching out to places locally but most are set up for children within the school system, who then get referred to those programmes. If anybody knows of any groups it would be much appreciated.

Thankyou
Cat

I'm sorry I can't help directly with your question as I'm not in your area but welcome to the forum Cat :)

When your son is 6 he'll be able to join the Beaver Scouts if there is a group in your area. The quality of individual groups does vary but perhaps other parents will be able to tell you the kind of thing any local group gets up to.

Woodygirl is in Dulverton; she might know something.

And I cannot help you; no kids and not in that area.

Scouting might be an answer but not every group does much outdoor stuff.

I rather suspect what you are already doing might be best.
