'twas a grand weekend. And rockmonkey, not believing a word of it. After watching you walk away today (hate to see you leave, love to watch you go by the way), that walk had pebble stamped all over it. Will be great to see a few more faces at the next one.

Thanks to all who came for making it such a wonderful relaxing weekend, after very busy week at work. Nice to see the regulars out in force as well a some new faces.

I fired up the forge but only got round to making one item, which was a small froe made from a 'putty knife' that glaziers use to remove putty from a window. The 50p boot fair blade now has an eye made from where the handle was & a 14" Sweat Chesnut handle, that will get finished tomorrow. I did not bring enough charcoal to do anything else but we have decided that next time we will have a forging session for the whole weekend, so dig out your old files as we are having a weekend of bashing hot metal in the woods. More to come on that...

Great pictures as per usual - must get myself a decent compact camera (birthday coming up!)

What happened to the grille by the way? Is it stashed somewhere or did somebody take it?

Cheers Robin, i do like my Nikon compact, works well, does HD video as well, although i dont use that probably as much as i could.

The grille is stashed away up there under a debris pile

Which model is the camera?

Hope the grille doesn't get nicked - it was custom made by a member on here ;)

I've had a thought on a smaller version that comes with its own stand. Think of a shopping basket with bigger holes cut in it - that might do the trick.

So do not want to be in the office today. Hoping to do a small amount of charcoal burning this weekend so we can have a bit of a stock pile for the next meet. Now to get hold of Suzy's farrier and see if he's got any old rasps. Would be great to do a complete project in a weekend. Now to find an anvil, got a big old vice that might be adaptable.

If I get the chance tonight I'll post my piccies too, but they are not the usual sort and are part of a project away from Bushcrafting.

We have booked the next 4 meets up as this is Broadstone Warren's 75th year & they are mega busy all summer. The dates are:

Weekend Pitch
21/22 April D1
26/27 May D1
23/24 June N1
28/29 July N1

I will get the next meet thread up soon

We will need lots of charcoal for the next meet, so if you could spare some that would be great. I will get a big bag of it along to get us started. I have a big block of steel that I was using as an anvil before I bought the one I had at the weekend, so will bring that along. A vice would be good, preferably one we can screw down to a tree stump.

There is no reason why a knife could not be done at the weekend, if you started early enough on the Saturday.

I may be able to bring a sack of charcoal along as im doing a two day burn during the week prior to the next meet, will see how much is left over once it's been graded and bagged

I'll see what yield I get as its an assorted lot this time. There's an old poplar tree that's been down for years in one of our fields. Pretty sure most of it is off the deck, so should be nice and dry. That will give me an excuse to get the chainsaw out.

A few pictures that I took of some of you guys over the weekend.
First up is Neil trying to outdo Ray on the leg front.
