They used to sell zip up adapters to fit any boots years ago in the naafi I am not sure if you can still get them from surplus shops , I lace mine with elastic and a clinch thing(ah I see there already been mentioned sorry)

Well, these zip up combat style boots arrived today and first impressions are very good, they are certainly not narrow fitting by any means, in fact surprisingly roomy in the fitting that can adjusted by the lace up tension to suit any foot / calf size combination.
The zip looks very well made and smooth in operation, Of course I'm sure time will tell but stamping around the house they feel great and I would certainly recommend them if someone was looking for this style of boot.
( so much so I'm going to order a second pair.)

Size wise I changed my order to size 9 and they're fine.
