You never know what's going to appear on your dustbin outside your back door

Noticed yesterday that a caterpillar had attached itself to our dustbin and today it looked like this

I don't know if it's a butterfly or moth or when it will appear but I was surprised to see it attached to our dustbin. I shall watch with interest


Just thought I'd update this with an after photo... This beautiful Red Admiral (a friend told me) appeared on the 2nd Oct and I managed to catch it just after it had emerged and was drying it's wings. It was a very wet day and you can even see a tiny droplet on top of it's head.

Oh thats cool, it'd be incredible to watch the exact moment when it came out! I'm sure someone will come along on here who knows which species it is and all that
