Hi guys, So I have this old WW1 Bayonet from my great grandpops and was just wondering what would be the most affordable method to polish up the blade and the steel on the handle?

Also do you think it's worth giving the wood any attention?

Cheers Guys!

Looking at it I wouldn't do anything more than a bit of Linseed oil on the wood and perhaps a leather conditioner on the sheath.

Too many artifacts have been 'cleaned up' by their owners and have ruined the value of the item.

Yeah I'm not looking to tamper with it at all just wants to give it a polish up to put on the mantle, but don't know how to polish metal aha!

I use a brass suede brush to good effect. It removes dirt and light rust but does not touch the steel at all.
