Wool poncho: my take

0) Materials

- Wool blanket x 2.
- Sewing tread and wool yarn.

1) Parts

- Body front and back.
- Neck gusset.
- Hood left and right.

2) Body

3) Slit and gusset

4) Hood

5) Sewing

The tools are ready, let's go:

Sewing machine: Body, hood and then hood to the body. By hand: gusset, overcast and blanket stitches.

My girlfriend gave me a Norwegian cardigan buckle (?) which will be a simple and good looking "slit closer":

My girlfriend volunteered as a model, so now you can see what the poncho looks like when you put it on. As you can see from the last picture a big hood doesn't always make you look scary.

Nice. The fabric looks great and the workmanship is excellent. I'm currently doing one with a wool layer inside and Ventile outside.

+1 to that and look forward to seeing the Ventile over wool as I've been pondering waxed cotton over wool for a poncho/blanket recently.

Mainly it's because I like them big and pointy, but the extra fabric around the neck is great when the nights get chilly.

good enough reason as any

Reason i ask is because i reckon a wool poncho/lukha type garment is gonna be my first sewing machine project after lambing and things calm down a bit round the farm
