Wool burn test?

Hi all,

hope you can help, Swambo recently picked up 2 blankets, brown and green, in a charity store for tuppence.

I have a vague memory of a mention of a "bun test" to check if the garment is real wool?

if I've plucked this from thin air can someone recommend a way to find out? no labels or any other distinguishing marks on the blankets.

Wool wont burn,it might char a bit.

Plastic will melt into little balls...be careful!

Pull some fibres from the blankets. Set a match to them (carefully) the plastic will form wee black balls while the wool will stink like burning hair.
Mixed fibres are a hit or miss sometimes though; depends what they're made from.
