I had a WS woodlore knife lined up and then the guy backed out of the deal :( (well actually he wanted to sell it as he never uses it but it was gift from his wife and she was less than enthusiastic!!)
So I'm looking for some feedback about the WS version V's the Alan Wood knife.
Now before you start ,I'm waiting for an Alan Wood - Bushcrafter along with a few other customs and i fully understand that a handmade knife is as much about pride of ownership as anything else ,but I'd really like to know if the WS version has been sorted out after the initial problems (ie ,blade grind ,scale fit and rust ).
I'd like to try one soon so the WS version makes sense and if i feel the need then i can order an AW version and "hurry up and wait"!
Cheers

hi rapidboy have just got the ws for fathers day it seems to be a fine knife no secondery bevel no rust and is well made should last years the only thing i could fault is the sheath it is machine stitched and mine could do with a polish to hide the stitch hole's as they are a bit light but apart from that it is a well balanced knife and fit's my large hands well like everything these days you get what you pay for and to me i think it is a good deal (especialy when you dont pay vat or postage ) hope this helps paul

I can't comment on the alan wood vs ws woodlores other than the difference in price is fairly small and therefore I would get the handmade version especially with the documented problems with the other.

I would look at this though http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?p=58655
the blade profile is different to the woodlore but the price is much more reasonable and it is still a handmade alan wood. Looks like a bargain to me.

rapidboy...absolutely no problems with mine whatsoever. I remeber hearing that woodlore have sorted all the problems since i got my first. My first came with rust and i sent it back and got a perfect one. No problems at all. And absolutely first class service from woodlore.

Cheers,

Jake

Well done Rapidboy way ahead on that one. It looks like a great knife but I know what you mean about having a woodlore as well.

Those are Martyn's pic's of his own knife.(Hope you don't mind M).
I ordered one of the 4 remaining blades and asked to have it finished just as the knife in the pic.
Same scale material and sheath.
It's beautiful why change it.
