SWMBO wanted me to carve a decorative spoon for a friend who was going through a rough patch and I thought it would be a chance for me to try out my hand at kolrosing. Here is the result, which I am very happy with apart from a few minor faults. Made from spalted silver birch and rubbed with coffee granuales into the cuts, I did try cinnamon powder but because the wood was quite dark I didnt think it stood out enough. Then cooked and oiled with walnut oil while it cools

Here next to my first working spoon that we use in the kitchen. Made from the same wood but had a few extra coats of oil.

Nice work!!
I love the kolrosing!

When I do engraving on horn i fill the cuts with ground pine bark and then I add artists paint.

Cheers
