Thought i'd post a few pics of my latest knives. It's a family set of three for my son, daughter and myself. I just thought it would be a nice thing to do and a good memory for them in later life, and they will all be used on our camping and fishing trips.
They are 5mm 01 toolsteel, 230mm length with a 115mm blade.
They are just about ready to heat-treat, and so far so good!

I know the purists will hate the 5mm thickness and oversized 12mm mosaic pin, but i know what i like!

Thanks for looking, and any criticisms or comments will be graciously recieved.

Love the file work :-) How long did each knife take you?
Thanks for the encouragement!

I have been making these for a couple of months as i don't have a lot of spare time and the missus likes to have a good moan as i am working in the kitchen.
The file-work only took an hour or so on each blade.

like your Heavy duty Grind hight scribe ;)

Needs a Taper tang tho :p at least to balance out that Kin Huge lump o brass in the middle

T'is a purfling tool for guitar and violin making but it does make a great scribe!

Thought about the balance issue and still might drill the tang.

Excellent, with a high grind like the one seen here, I can't see there being a problem. Much easier to choke up on too.

Not sure about the handle material yet, probably wood though.
I'll need to source enough of the same timber to do all three with matching firesteel handles.

Love the file work. Interested in your grinding gauge thing in background, so gotta make my own knife. Not happy with my current two.
