Wintermoot

  • BushMoot: Come along to the amazing Summer Moot 31st July - 5th August (extended Moot : 27th July - 8th August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Think I've seen on TV an above-ground Hangi - basically a big earth mound above the water table, then proceed to have a fire, heat up the stones, add food/ leaf cover etc .then cover with lots of soil etc all as normal.
But the idea of getting several cubic metres of soil delivered and the subsequent spadework, whilst it might keep the body warm, is not appealing to me.

According to the local Coventry weather station, in this January 2026, Coventry had 148% of its normal rainfall for January. Todays weather forecast for the UK said that the current weather pattern is stuck and not likely to change or inprove for the best part of a month.

I don't recall the site draining well, so I guess the smart option is going to be hammocks and mainly on only one side of the access road ?

Yeah, I can't see a Hangi being practical to do, we'll run mostly like last year and hope that the rain eases the week we're there!

There will definitely be spaces to pitch, it might just be a little further away towards teh top end of the site.

Looking forward to see you all and Tengu, goodjob on coming

They're not available i'm afraid, there wasn't enough uptake in time so I cancelled them

Was hoping I'd be able to make it again this year, but unfortunately MIL is in hospital and the outlook isn't looking great, so I need to be at home.

Hope everyone has a great time and see you next time.
