Winter Bushcraft Challenge with wilderness survival skills

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Just paid for this anyone else going?
this is the blurb from the newsletter which attracted my attention-
This course is designed as a challenge for those who already have some bushcraft experience and is the perfect confidence building training weekend for anyone intending to attempt the Hunter Gatherer week. Camping out in colder conditions is always a challenge but going without a tent, sleeping bag and stove requires a real understanding of survival priorities and a good knowledge of how to provide these essentials for life, using what nature provides. We can’t guarantee snow but it’s definitely going to be ccccold... Arrival on Friday evening allows everyone the chance to settle in, get a good nights sleep and receive a detailed briefing before attempting the challenge. From first light on Saturday you will be allowed only one wool blanket, your bushcraft knife and folding saw, a Swedish fire steel, one cooking pot, a non-metal cup, a head torch, a first aid kit and a reliable method of communication. You will also be given a bag of rice and a small quantity of wild game. You will head off in pairs and by last light, MUST have built an effective shelter and bed, made fire to cook and keep warm, prepared and cooked up an evening meal and foraged through the winter landscape for additional wild foods to supplement your basic rations. With the proper preparation and practice there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be anything other than toasty warm and well fed. This promises to be a fantastic course – we can’t wait!
now obviously this got me tempted and after various begging whinging and generally boring the ears off my family it was agreed the majority of the cost would be paid as my Yule present.
anyone else signed up for this?

So why are you paying somebody so you can do this, surely you can do this yourself without paying? Or do they provide the training/knowledge etc to accomplish the challenge as well?

Or does the payment cover the blanket, rice and meat? :D

hi man of tanith good luck on the challenge i cant find the cost of this on the blurb regards dave

Its a shame I can not go mate... but funds and all that.... have a great time Sam. :)

I like the look of the primitive tools weekend.. I am speaking with Mr Lord about doing teh same sort of thing for SBCG next year :)

Sounds great Sam, i should have gone on one of these when i started, would probably learn a bit and test myself if i did one now!

I have been thinking about doing something very similar at on of my sites, for Jan/Feb

Thanks.
