this may seem a little odd but I use a piece of CCF as a windscreen - its normally a sit pad or insultion for my feet in the hammock but it folds just right to cover three sides of the cooking area far enough out so that it is not affected by the heat of the cooking - a few sticks to pin it in place and its good for most setups

I didnt think about the canister overheating and I usually solo camp, so that may have been an accident waiting to happen, so thanks for pointing that out. The primus clip on is looking like a good one.

I also use a chopped up tinfoil roasting tin, less than a quid in the usual cheap/pound shops, cut up and the edges folded back make a strong easily packable screen
