I've spent a little time shaping up and handling Wilson, my solo outing comrade. I was limited by the shape of the metal itself. He's been heat treated, descaled and saber ground. Old faithful is being relegated after 10 years of loyal service, making it cost me 70p a year.
Meet Wilson in his new jacket

It won't win any beauty contests, and it's probably not the best steel, it's rough and ready compared to knives I've made in the past, and I have prettier better knives to use. But to explain why I'm choosing Wilson here is a visual aid...

This is Winston. The pub dog in my local. Much like Wilson, young Winston here won't win any beauty contests. He's not a smart dog by any means, and as a guard dog he's less than useless. But for some reason you love him anyway! He gets a pie crust and plenty of attention every time. So with the knife much like with Winston, I'm letting logic out the window and going on sentiment!
I'll upload more when it's polished up and done

Excellent. Get it on the stones and make it shiney, then its time for a sheath :)
Enjoyed your other posts and this is a perfect reminder you can keep for ever.

Thanks dwardo. I'll be polishing up to 2500. And it'll be getting a tan leather cow leather sheath
