Here There & Everywhere
Seen more and more slow worms over the last 18 months along the stretch of the Downs I call home. Saw this chap today, just sitting in the middle of the path...

Yes, green common lizards often occur - I've seen many myself. Common lizards can vary quite widely in colouration.
Most people will say, 'if it's green it's a sand lizard' but that's not necessarily the case.
There are quite a few differences between the two and seen side by side you can immediately tell the difference (not least because the sand lizard has a wide brownish spinal stripe).
What you have there are common lizards.

Thanks, we have 20+ in just a small area of our back garden so are more than happy they are just common lizards. Seems to be a good year for them although we do make an effort to encourage them, plenty of babies about last year as well.

They're common only in name (well, their actual name is vivaporous lizard)
All lizards and reptiles in the UK are endangered and at risk and steadily decreasing - they're not 'common' anywhere now, really. So you should be super chuffed to have them in your back garden.
I wish we did.

A few more lizard pics. Not just showing the lizards but showing some habitat I've created for them. One a simple log left so they can get the last rays of sunshine, another an old baking tray and some carefully arrange stones to provide areas to sun themselves and the last one a lizard enjoying an area I only just cut back by using shears rather than a lizard munching power tool.IMG_20230523_184933895_HDR_2.jpgIMG_20230523_175135560_2.jpgIMG_20230523_112600135_2.jpg
