A bit of a first for me, this one.
Although I've seen a great many common lizards, and know how they can vary in colouration, this is the first time I've seen one with blue on it - that patch just behind the 'ears'. There also appears to be a bluish tint to the flanks and rear legs.
I've never seen that before on a common lizard.

Are you sure that's not an Essex Skipper (Thymelicus lineola)? :)

Erm...no, I'm not to be honest.
I naturally thought it was a small skipper.
But I've just done a Google and you're right - orange tip = small skipper, black tip = essex skipper.
I'll have to amend the file name on my drive...
