Does anyone know if these are edible?

I think I have a whitebeam tree in the garden. I've looked on the internet and all I find is references to birds liking to eat them, but also a whitebeam berrie wine recipe.

???

according to R Mabeys `Food for Free` the berries are edible as soon as they go semi rotted, he mentions wine and honey, but is not more explicit.

why not try making them into a jam or jelly? or stewing with lots of sugar
