Whipping a crooked knife blade to the handle

I used a piece of leather thonging, stretched really tight by hand. If that had come loose (which it hasn't) I was then going to wet it before re-tying.

No, I'd notched the handle for the blade and couldn't be bothered to notch it for the binding, so I thought I'd see how it went, and notch /retie if I needed to.

Well, I was going to use Artificial Sinew from Le prevo, because £1.70 seemed a good deal but they have a minimum order of £10, plus delivery at £3, plus vat, plus 2% for the credit card and suddenly you are racing towards £20. No local supplier as far as I can see.

So I will work on the handle and see how it goes first.
