Where to find some nice thick leather?

Hi,

I am looking to get hold of some nice thick leather to try my hand at some leather work. The sort of leather I am looking for is the thickness shown here: http://www.ronniesunshines.com/large-brown-leather-folding-knife-sheath-p-1147.html

I have been googling for a while with no luck, any ideas? I'm not looking for a very large amount, a couple of feet square would be more than enough.

I agree with deerman, try Le Prevo.

They sell cut straps of various widths ideal for some work , give them a phone good guys to deal with .

Greenman Bushcraft also sell smaller pieces of leather.

Also, how do you actually make leather? I have done fur on pelts but have no ideas about how to make a leather? could a rabbit be used to make leather?

Just type in 'leather hides' on eBay and there is loads of the stuff, all shapes and sizes
