where to find crayfish in the NW??

does anyone know where in the northwest i can capture sinal crayfish

im willing to tavel but dont want to go stupid distances lol

any in the welsh river dee near llangollen?

They're in the river Goyt. You can just reach down and grab them below some of the smaller weirs. A local fisherman warned me about eating fish from this part of the river due to heavy metals from past industry that would accumulate in predators.

As PK said, you need to apply for a licence to trap non-native crayfish from the Environment Agency. This is to stop people accidently trapping the White-clawed crayfish Austropotamobius pallipes which is endangered and near extinct in some places. They will also assess whether you have requried skills and knowledge to avoid damaging the ecology of the waterway you propose to trap out.

If you gain a licence you will be given a specific number of trap ID tags to affix to your traps. This will probably mean that you will have to purchase specific traps for this purpose that have been authorised for the purpose by the EA.
