No idea sorry. The only wood i know of that colour is osage.
The split has caused that spalting and discolouration which looks brilliant. Would make some great decorate stuff, even coasters.

Looks almost "digital"

Looks like it could be, it's quite a variable shrub and does produce quite thick trunks.

When cut the wood is bright yellow but I've found it loses the yellow on ageing, so the yellow may fade.

It could be box wood, it has the yellow tinge. Is the grain very tight as box wood is very slow growing and there for a very durable wood for making handles, I have used this in the past.
I take it the wood is seasoned before you cut it up as it needs to be well seasoned before you work on it. When finished it will polish up to the most amazing butter yellow.

Whatever it is, best to cut it down the central pith and seal the end grain with some pva to reduce splitting if you think you will use it for something (other than firewood!).
