What type of Leather?

Not strictly bushcraft I suppose but the answer may help others with similar leather projects?

I want to make a wrist strap for my camera and wondered what type and thickness leather would be best?
It obviously has to hold the weight of the camera. TIA.

If you're looking to replicate that braid then I'd personally choose either goat skin or kangaroo leather would be best.

1mm or less if you want a fine braid like that. You want thin leather so it doesn't make the braid bulky.

If that's the only bit you want the leather for then yes, 2mm will be fine.

I thought you wanted to make the entire wrist strap by braiding it similar to your original link hence my suggestion for the thinner leather

I haven’t decided yet, I may weave some Paracord or just use some thick cord if I see something nice.
