This is a big bit caribou hide I found on the side of the road when we had a council clean up.

As you can see it's not a bad bit of leather for free but I just hate that"shatung"colour. So what can I do to change than horrible gray colour into a nice brown? You could make a fair few pouches form it seems a shame to let it go to waste, let me know what you think guys:D

dont worry too much about the big lumps colour, just dye whatever you make;)

Is it stiff? or soft?
if its stiff you could use it for wallets, journal covers etc you could even laminate it to use it for possibles pouches, even belts.

if it's soft, you can make bags, pouches, thonging, moccasins,

Thing is, it'll be ideal to learn on if your just starting;)

cheers

If it wont take dye you could cut long strips and use it for edging canvas.
I've got a couple of old packs that are finished that way and the colour of the leather is very similar, looks good against green canvas.
It's a big bit of leather though.

Pete.
